Meta, Facebook’s new brand identity, steps up its information-security game by putting tighter restrictions on the information spread about the COVID-19 vaccine for kids between 5 and 11 years of age, as FDA officially approves the Pfizer vaccine.
Meta mentions in a recent blog post indicating partnerships with CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and WHO (World Health Organization), world’s two most prominent health organizations, to eliminate the harmful content related to children and the new COVID-19 vaccine. This is alongside their continuing work with “Kaiser Family Foundation’s Greater Than COVID initiative on large-scale informational campaigns that connect parents of young children directly with reliable information about the vaccine” – Meta says in its blog.
In addition to the information control, Meta will also provide reminders in Facebook feeds in English and Spanish conveying the safety, approval and availability of the vaccine for kids.
Mets also mentions that they have taken down more than 20 million pieces of content from Facebook and Instagram and over 3,000 accounts, Pages and groups globally for spreading COVID-19 and vaccine misinformation.
